When designing a product, YSL Beauty looks for the perfect association of ingredients to create the most efficient
and sensorial formula. Each ingredient is part of a family. Each family plays a crucial role in the formula.

1.Active Ingredient

An active ingredient is a compound with an action scientifically proven on skin.


2.Emulsifier

An emulsifier helps two or more liquids to blend together, forming a single phase, for a uniform solution called an “emulsion”.


3.Stabilizer
A stabilizer is used to maintain the stability of the formula and make sure it remains unchanged: for a beautiful appearance and sensorial texture overtime.


4.Moisturizer

A moisturizer helps retaining water in the skin, adding and restoring its moisture, for a smoothed and softened skin.


5.Texturizer

6.Preservative

A preservative prevents the growth of microorganisms or undesirable oxidative reactions in order to prolong the shelf-life of the product, even once it has been opened.


7.Colorant/Pigment

Colorants and pigments are coloring agents which give a color to the product.


8.Filter

UV filters are essential and used to protect skin from the harmful effects of UV rays contained in sun light or in artificial light.


9.Perfume

Perfume ingredients are a mixture of fragrance essential oils and aroma compounds to enhance the sensoriality and emotional pleasure of a product.
