Valerie L: Yes!!!!

In the summer, I only use Touche Éclat, mascara, and one of Yves Saint Laurent's lip gloss. I have a radiant face, with a summer glow. Folks are clueless that I have anything on my face. I use it around my eyes, lips, and forehead. My girlfriend, Pamela Minters, is a high-end makeup artist, and she introduced me to this great product for my professional photo shot. I have introduced several of my racially diverse girlfriends, and they love it.

I am African American - it is the BUM!

Helen B asked: I bought a new touche eclat, and when the touch button is depressed, nothing emerges and the brush is still dry. What am I doing wrong? Don't want to con Aug 16, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (3) No (0)
MJ B: When using a new touche eclat for the first time sometimes it can take as few as 4 clicks for product to start coming out and as many as 12 clicks. If after trying again another happens the product is probably defective and you should contact the company. Good luck. Aug 16, 2012
Reply to MJ Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Jemma I: You have to press it several times initially for the product to show up on the brush just to get it started. After you have gotten it to come out the first time, you only have to press it 2-3 times to see it on the brush. Great product! Aug 16, 2012

Anne P: The very first time you use it, you will need to depress the button several times -- maybe as many as 15 or 20 -- to "prime the pump'" as it were. Thereafter the liquid will emerge with only 4 or 5 clocks. Aug 16, 2012

Wah L: Hi Laura-

When I was deciding my Touche Eclat, I was also deciding between #1 and #8. I ended up getting #8 because it does cover up my dark spots and blemishes pretty well, and I also find #1 a tad too orange and pink and does look weird with covering.... so if you are pale, I think you should go with #1. Hope it helps!

melody m m: I think your decision should be based on the undertones of your skin. If you are more pink, go with #1, if you are more yellow, go with #8. If you are more neutral, you might like #2, however, it does have a little more depth than #1 or #8. I hope this helps. Melody Apr 28, 2012

NANCY R: I use #1. I am fairly light in the winter, but I also tan in the summer,
but I always use #l. I use it as a highlighter (under my brows, Etc.).
I have never used any other shade but #1. I hope I have helped

Wah L: Hi Laura-

When I bought mine, I was deciding between #1 and #8 as well, I ended up getting #8 because #8 is better for covering my blemishes and dark circles while #1 has a slight orangey-pinkish tint to it that doesnt cover up well for me. So I would go with #8 if you are fair toned!

leslie j asked: I am fair with green eyes and blond/brown hair, i have a little pink in my skin, what would you suggest. I have visited the site and narrow it down to 3.5 opal or the one above that. Is that right for me? Apr 19, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Pamela F: Hi Leslie,
I am fair with blue eyes and blond/light brown hair. I used the color chart on the website, choosing the model that was most like my coloring. I had a hard time deciding between two different models, but once I made my choice, it turned out that several of the models used the same shade that was recommended for me - including the two I was considering. After having used this product, I am very happy with this color choice and will continue to use the product. Advice - trust the color chart!

Debra W: I would go with the lighter shade. I think the "Shade Finder" on the website leads to the purchase of a shade that is too dark. I have light olive skin; maybe the "Shade Finder" works for people with your skin tone, but not for people with mine. Maybe some people with your skin tone will responds as well. The good news is I can use the one is too dark for eye shadow, so it is not a complete waste of money. The texture is great. and it has great staying power. Apr 19, 2012

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Cynthia D: It depends on your facial skin tone. I have a light complexion with pink undertones. I tried #1 the first time I bought Touche Eclat & when I reordered I tried #2 color. In comparing the two, I decided to reorder #1 because it reduced wrinkles & dark circles better than the darker #2. However, there was just a touch of color difference & I was the only one that noticed the difference. Jan 28, 2014

Lisa B: Dear Cynthia, thank you very much for your response. Someone suggested I need to try the different colors at a store. The problem with that for me is there aren't many stores near me that sell YSL. I used to use a yellow-based concealer stick that I bought at Target (I can't remember the brand) and it worked great but was a bit chalky. The yellow tint seemed to cover up best - I had tried pinky tints before but they made the circles look worse. One of these days I'll get to a big department store and see what will work best for me. I sure do appreciate you taking the time to answer me. Lisa Jan 29, 2014

Lisa B: Dear Martha, I've tried this item in the past and loved it but darn it if I can remember the color I bought. Anyway, I think I'm going to check it out at a department store like someone else suggested.

I used to use a yellow-based concealer stick which seemed to work better but it was kind of chalky.

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer me. Lisa Jan 29, 2014

Lisa B: Dear Pamela, thank you for your response. I think you are probably right; best to try at a department store. Unfortunately, I live kind of out in the country, so next time I'm in "the big city," I'll go to Neiman's or Nordstrom's. I'm so mad because I used to use this but cannot remember the tint I bought at that time. Oh well. Thanks again so much. Lisa Jan 29, 2014

A shopper asked: Hello everyone! I am confused. Just got the T.E. in no. 2. I love it! Since I am so fair it works for me as a concealer, too! But here's the point: There's so many people saying that it's not really a concealer, maybe covering a few blemishes LIGHTLY, as for purpose of highlighting areas. Is it now supposed to be used as a concealer itself or as a highlighter? I read so many different things! Like I said before, I can use it to cover under-eye circles, because I am fair and don't have too dark ones. Still I use it to highlight the bridge of my nose, cupids bow, corners of my mouth, cheek bones, etc. Is it now to be used on top of a regular concealer or as a concealer itself? Thank you for answering! Aug 7, 2012

Nancy F: Personally, I use it as a concealer itself. You may have to put on two (thin) coats, as what I do, Let the first coat dry, then put on second coat. I'm 74 though, but it works for me. I fear you would have product builtup if you used it over another consealer. Aug 7, 2012

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Judith Y: Dear Shannon,
Since this is a concealer it is best to match your skin's tone, so that the Touche Eclat blends in and hides any lines or imperfections. I also use it on my lips before the liner and lipstick. It makes the lipstick stay fresh longer.

I hope I answered your query.

A shopper asked: I have constant "puffiness" under my eyes, not dark circles (or bags)....I know that it is fatty tissue and I should get it surgically removed. But, until then, would this product help to reduce this, by appearance only? I know, once again, there is not a product out there that will actually take away that fatty tissue, but still wondered if the right shade could help to reduce just the "appearance". Jun 15, 2012

Ellen H: I am a busy teacher. This product lasts and wears all day. The coverage is the best, it really is. When you say waterproof, I don't believe it would last through the swimming pool or a shower. But it will last all day, even if you are on the go and active. Jun 7, 2012

Luda C: If your skin tone has a pink tint to it you are should be using warm tones, if your skin tone more beige you are cool tones. The best way to see your real color on the inside of your hand, that skin usually does not have that much exposure to the sun and it's the best way to see your true tone of skin to determine what tone are you. Maureen M: It's a beautiful product and they do have a wide range of colors. I have white/yellow skin and I use one of the lighter shades. I'm not sure what tones you have in your skin but maybe you could check it out in a department store or ask an online make-up artist/YSL rep. Check out the darker three colors and one of those may be perfect. Remember when this is a highlighter/cover-up so you would want to go a lighter shade to brighten your skin for that "glow". Anita M: It can be applied anywhere you want to put it. Months ago, I was given a sample and after washing and putting olive oil all over my face one night I applied the TE to my entire face and forgot about it. The next morning when I looked in the mirror, I was surprised to see a woman there who looked 10-15 years younger! No kidding, I amd 65 years old with incredibly fair skin and freckles, plus the usual wrinkles and brown spots. Now if I don't use it , people don't recognise me. Jan 29, 2013

Rebecca P: I was watching the news and a special came on about make-up. They suggested the Luminous Radiance Shade as an overall shade for most people. I bought one for me and my daughter-in-law. She has more of a reddish complexion and mine is more olive but it seemed to work for us both. This past year I bought a slight darker for me Radiant Silk and I was pleased with it also. I wish I could afford to buy it all the time but I have decided to make it a Christmas gift for us both each year. Aug 16, 2012

Barbara A: I have a rather dark circle under one eye as a result of eye drops for glaucoma. Have had it for years and have used this product for years and it does cover it up--also goes on smoothly and the brush gives considerable control as to where it goes. Rather dark is not EXTREMELY dark, but I imagine it would work. I have fair skin as well, so I also like the choice of shades this product comes in. It's worth a try! Jul 28, 2012

Very good product if you can find it. The only down side is it
does not last long as the container is quite small.
Would be great if YSL came up with a large one, even if the
price is more.

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Linda H N: I order the No. 2 luminous ivory. I would purchase a shade slightly liter than my skin tone, to highlite. I use it as a highlighter and sort of a concealer. It diminishes dark circles under the eye, for a quick refresher look. I use on the 11 between the eyes, if you have those, I use on the outer part of my eye and blend upward to lift the eye and gives the illusion of looking more youthful, Use on the inner part of eye next to the nose to brighten and highlight that dark area, on the center of the nose, around the corners of the nostril ,,blend, blend, blend. Use around the lip line to give a fuller lip. All of these areas, are places you can use product. I use after foundation and all other products are on, then you can see where you need those extra lighteners. Tip: tap, tap, tap, do not rub, just blend lightly, do not apply too much at any area. Works Wonders, Hope this helps. Jul 3, 2012

Aimee P asked: Hi guys. Just wondering what color I should get? I am mixed White and Asian; brown hair, brown eyes, olive skin. I have more of a Mediterranean look than Asian or Caucasian and so would guess that I have yellow undertones? The colors seem to have changed names in store as to the shade finder on this website. I would say I am between 2 and 5 on the shade finder but these names (blonde and Peach) don't exist anymore/are transferable to the shades I find in store... Apr 27, 2012

Yi-Chun C: Hi, I'm Asian and a little tan, so I think my skin tone would be quite similar to yours. I use a number 2 because the touché éclat is suppose to be for high lighting purposes, so I chose something quite a bit lighter than my skin tone, but not overly pale because that'd just look unnatural. When I first opened it I thought number 2 was too light, but once I used it, it created a very natural highlight for my features once blended. Hope this helps! I really love this product :) Apr 27, 2012

KARYN B: Somewhat,
The Touche Eclat are still numbered in the store or on line; however the colors refer to what undertones you are. That being said you will have to figure out what number you are...I know that #2 is a universal color. If it doesn't work for you then just take it back to the store and exchange it for the correct color. Remember all makeup and skincare is returnable.
I have #2 and to me it has more pink undertones in it not yellow.
Good luck

Tessa P: I would recommend shade 3.
It provides wonderfully smooth coverage under eyes with plenty of balancing tones to cover any discoloration.
I find this shade to be more effective with Hispanic and Mediterranean complexions as it is bright enough to function as an under-eye highlight, and my favorite part about this product is there is no need to powder or set this makeup.

Felicia D: The best best way to determine your accurate shade for Touche Eclat, will depend on if you plan to use the Touche Eclat over or under your foundation. If you plan to use it under your foundation I would suggest selecting a shade lighter than your foundation. If you are planning to use the Touche Eclat on top of your foundation then choose a shade that is closest to your foundation.

Wendy Y asked: How do I know what color to purchase if I am ordering online? Oct 19, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
DORIS R: Hello. When ordering online, you should know the very basics about your skin color. That is to say: 1. Do I have "pink" or "yellow" undertone? Now, all skin colors have an undertone no matter how light or dark you are, so go and find out! 2. Once you know your undertone, you should know how light or dark you are in the general worldly scale. 3. Once those basics are in place the next question would be, "what do I want to achieve with this product?" Do I want to "bring out" areas such as wrinkles? Then go lighter than your tone; or Do I want to "blend in" with my skin tone? Then select your skin tone color; and lastly, Do I want to "contour" that is to diminish areas, then go darker. All very simple once you know your basics. Try it and try again until perfection! Oct 23, 2012

Laura L: I have always preferred color 2. I have olive complexionwhich is probably darker than yours but I have a lot of red in my skin as well. The light color, when blended, works beautifuly and lightens the under eye area which is what it is designed to do. You will love this produt. It never cakes in the tiny lines under my eyes. Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Laura L: I have an olive complexion an prefer the lighter shade #2. At first you will think it looks much too light but as you blend it, you will find that, indeed, it must be light to do its job. By the time you have put on all of your "face" I think you will be pleased with it. Touche Eclat never migrates into fine lines. I have introduced it to many girlfriends. We wouldn't be without. Have fun! Aug 31, 2012

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Laura L: I would definitely use the lighter shade. I am tan from sun and never feel that the light shade is too light. I did not care for the pearlized ... opal one. I use it undereye. The opal doesn't look good there b/c it accentuates those real fine lines under eyes. You will love the regular product for under eye. I have used it for years and now my girlfriends use it as well. It never gets caked into fine lines! Jun 17, 2012

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Michelle A: Hi Julie- if you know the original works than I would stick with that. Depending on your skin tone you can use a different shade or even mix them. Generally the originally color I find works great for anyone who is pink and olive tone from fair to medium color. If you found the original color was too light than I would go up a shade. I think the best thing to go is go to the counter and try a few different ones. Hope this helps! May 16, 2012

A shopper asked: Having trouble deciding. I have bags under my eyes and I want something for the shadow under the bags. I have Chanel foundation in bisque and Bobbie Brown concealer in Sand. What shade int the Touche Eclat would you recommend? May 13, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Julie R: I have a medium complexion and I use Touche Eclat #2. It blends very well and will give you that brightness you're looking for.
I do a lot of on camera work and this is one of my favorite products.

In addition, remember to stay hydrated during the day. Really drink your water. I notice too that the bags under my eyes settle down when I sleep on my back, with my head slightly elevated. (two pillows) :)

Karen D: Hi!
I had a similar problem. I have a medium skin tone and I wasn't sure whether to go with the medium or light shade. I went with the light because you can always tone it down with a touch of your foundation. The purpose of éclat for me was to brighten the area under my eyes so you want to go lighter than your normal foundation. It worked great for me.
I even put a touch of it over my foundation around the sides of my nose and mouth where shadows gather.
Hope you find this helpful,
Karen

MariAna Z: When in doubt about your skin tone go to a YSL make-up counter and you will be helped by someone who is knowledgeable and can try the different shades on you in the store-when I do that I always go outside where it is light to really see the color-the store lights can be deceiving (I learned the hard way) always bring a mirror -and I am sure the person helping you will totally understand. When I clicked on a model, it told me what color they were using. This really helped me to narrow down the shades and pick the best one. By the way -- you will love this concealer. A shopper asked: How do I know if I'm a "cool" or "warm" tone? I've been using this product in the "luminous radiance" (01?) for a long time after I apply my concealer (under eye area) as the last thing I do in my MU application. I've also mixed the 01 with the 03 as well but I'm pretty sure I'm using the wrong shade (especially in the 03). I have a new 01 and want something to "mix" with it to make it less "fair" on my eye area. I'm 53, brunette, brown eyes, don't burn in the sun, tan easily (but stopped that years ago!). I can wear either silver or gold jewelry. Depending on the light, my veins can look either blue or green. I do have some darkness under my eyes (a blue tone). I use BE mineral MU in Medium Beige. I hope you can help....I'm thinking I should go with the 02? Thanks!! Patricia
