A shopper asked: What is the biggest difference btn Teint Radiance Y Teint Majeur. I am 65 & looking for new Foundation? May 23, 2012

Karen D: I loved this foundation as I do all of the YSL products. I didn't/don't know if it is still made but am using their liquid make which I changed to after that. This is thinner to give me a lighter covering for my face and I love that (I am 69!).

I use all of their blushes, liners, lipsticks, etc. and they are all great!!!

Mary M: The Majeur seems to go on more flawlessly on my skin (I am 53) but you may want to go to cosmetic counter and have them give you sample of both. May 23, 2012

Robert K: I don't know the difference between the two but I am 60 with very dry skin and the Teint Majeur is so very creamy to put on. I do put on moisturizer and let it "sit" a few minutes before putting on this foundation (but I have to do that with any foundation). It is almost like a cream itself and has good but not cakey coverage. I am a very frugal person but this foundation is worth splurging on. May 24, 2012

Faten AlShehri: i bought this foundation couple years ago, and i realllly loved it, it makes my skin glowing and looks healthy. now i'm 21 years old and today i went to buy another one, but the makeup artist said that this foundation is not for my age, it's for women who reach 40's and 50's because it covers the wrinkles and stuff like that. but i told her that i've been using it for two years and i really liked it. she said "yeah you may use it, but it made for older women" Jul 29, 2013

Sandra D: The advice given at the make-up counter is just that, "advice", and no one knows your skin better than you.
You wear your face and look at it in the mirror every single day. While most days it may remain the same, other days it may change depending on many things including the weather, your fatigue and or stress level or a simple hormonal change.
When you are standing the make-up counter to purchase a product(s) your skin may or may not appear as it usually does.
Therefore, the consultant may recommend a different product based on what she sees standing in front of her at that very moment.
In addition, the products speak for themselves. Ultimately, it is up to you to try the product(s) that work best for you. Unfortunately, met times this wakes time unless you are lucky. Often you will try many products before you finally hit the jackpot. But once you do; you won't be sorry you kept looking!
And in most instances it is that very product that you will continue to use for years. Even when newer products come out, you will discover your jackpot still is just that; a jackpot.
Never hesitate to ask for samples of different shades and foundation types. Consultants should be more than willing to provide these to you in attempt to help you find what is right for you Once you do that, you will be back to purchase a product or know what you definitely do not want to buy.
I have bought make-up all over the world and tried almost every brand there is from the cheapest to the most expensive.
I also have had many bottles given away to friends that did not work for me.
In the long run, it puts a big dent in your purse.
I have encountered consultants/sales people whom are willing to offer products to me in a helpful manner without being pushy while others simply are lazy and do not want to take the time to put a few squirts in a small container for me to try a foundation, primer, moisturizer, or etc;.
There are a plethora of beauty products on the market today and even the most schooled make-up user can find it hard to get exactly what they are looking for; aren't we all looking for a product that does it all? Why do we have to narrow it down to a product only for:
fine lines and wrinkles
dry and dehydrated skin
discolored or blotchy skin
sensitive skin
sagging or mature skin
age defying skin
normal skin " By the way, what is "normal" skin?
oily skin
combination skin
The list goes on and on and their are now primers, serums, eye creams gels, and many other products to add confusion. Night cremes, day cremes, etc;
It can be overwhelming.
BOTTOM LINE: Find someone you like whom is willing to take the time with you at the counter. Seldom do I ever have good results sitting in a chair getting a makeover by any random person.. The lighting is different and they use so many products it is often a waste of time. After all, you need to be able to apply the product yourself.
What works for one does not work for another. Kind of like the way your friends jeans might not fit you like they fir her.
If it works for you, then it works! Regardless of what age it is designed and marketed for!
There are many women I personally know in their 40's, 50's and 60's all of whom have skin that looks much better than people whom are only 20 or 30.
Find a consultant somewhere you frequently shop and get to know them Once you are a repeat customer you will find they are capable of providing you with honest answers, ample samples, and know you by name. Many will even mail you products over the phone.
Consultants work different shifts, ask what days they work. Buy from one person if you can and then if you already know what you want then you can buy it online or at the store from anyone.
It takes time but is well worth it. Before you buy ask if you can return the product in a day or two if it does not work for you; most stores will allow this.
Good Luck! Hope this helps anyone I am on my way home is reading! Feb 8, 2015

Product is very creamy and spreads evenly giving a uniform skin tone. Would not use it on a face full of wrinkles but rather on a face that wants a uniform smooth skin tone

A shopper asked: I m very disappointed that this foundation you can't get in opal 3 color. What are you replacing it with?? How do I get that color??it seems like I just went through this a few years ago when you changed another color to opal now I can't get it. I been using ysl for 25 years. Now I don't know what to do. My skin is sensitive. Let me know. May 27, 2015

sarah s: What can I tell you? I have the same complaint. When I found out it was being discontinued I bought 2 of them. I would have bought more except I was concerned it would decompose (or whatever happens to foundations when they're old).

I too feel bereft. It's the only color on the market from all the companies that really "did" it for me and I've been wearing nothing else for the past 10 years.

YSL has a few other foundations in opal but none of them offer this level of coverage plus light reflecting plus pore tightening. This product is phenomenal and it seems ridiculous that they've left us all hanging without anything comparable.

I keep hoping that by the time my last jar runs out YSL will come out with something as wonderful.

I wish I had a suggestion for you. Maybe you can go to the YSL makeup counter and they can give you a sample of the other foundations that come in "our" opal color and you can try them w/o investing much.

I wish you lots of luck.

Susan O. M: I have used Teint Majur for a long time and was very disappointed as well when it was discontinued. I moved on to a foundation from another high end line but it seems both YSL and other lines are going after a younger market with foundations that offer less coverage than I like. I have a tiny bit of Teint Majur left in my jar and use it sparingly just on one area of my cheeks that have a few age spots. I will be very sad when my jar is empty.

Is would love for YSL to being on a foundation that works as well as Teint Majur. I use several other YSL cosmetic and skincare products and love them!

Joyce R: Unfortunately you can't get it in ANY color!! This wonderful foundation was discontinued by YSL almost a year ago! It is no longer available!
Perhaps companies should put out feelers to the public prior to discontinuing popular products!!
I can't understand why I would get this request from YSL when they certainly must know that Teinte Majeur is no longer available! Most puzzling!!

Amanda S asked: I like a foundation with coverage and stays all day. Would this be good for that? And what kind of powder would go well with this? Thank you. Aug 14, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Joyce R: I have bern using Teinte Majeur for years. I love it!! It is very light, applies beautifully and looks very natural. You mentioned you want coverage and want it to last all day! I have never had to re-apply this product during the day! I don't know how much "coverage" you want, this is a very light foundation, which is precisely what I love about it! I suggest that you go to an upscale department store and have a consultation with one of the reps at the YSL counter. Nordstrom is my favorite! The YSL rep will help you select the right match for your complexion and will apply it for you. You can then decide if it is the right product for you. Unless you are looking for heavy coverage I think you will love it too! Aug 15, 2014

Amanda S: Thank you so much for your reply. Is there anyway that I could get a sample of this sent to me before I purchase? Have a great day. Aug 15, 2014
Joyce R: if you go into Nordstrom, the rep at YSL will match your skin tone to the right shade of Teinte Majeur and give you a small bottle to try at home for a few days! Aug 18, 2014
Fumiko Y: I have used a lot of foundations, but I believe this foundation is one of the bests!
Since my skin is very dry, I don't use powder after this foundation. But my makeup keeps perfectly without reapplying until I wash my face in the nights.

I have the powder, POUDRE SUR MESURE (http://www.yslbeautyus.com/poudre-sur-mesure/152YSL.html?dwvar_152YSL_color=1%20Ivory&cgid=makeup-powder#start=3&cgid=makeup-powder). I use this when I need.

Memory T: Hi, I'm not sure about large pores, but this is the most luxurious foundation I have ever used and I've tried a bunch including La Prairie, Channel, Trish McEvoy, to name a few. I'm in the process of trying to find the right color. They have been out of stock for the Amber color for over a month now and I can't find out if it has been discontinued. Good Luck! Jun 8, 2012

LINDA M: Hi Roxanne;
This foundation has exceptional coverage and thus can obscure alot of skin problems. Inso far as large pores, I think it would still give nice coverage. You could always put a pore minimizer underneath. Try Perricone MD Intensive Pore Minimizer, or Napoleon Perdis, Clinique or Estee Lauder pore minimizers.

A shopper asked: What shade would work best for medium complexion with yellow undertones? Also does this foundation come in a powder to brush on? Nov 29, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Joyce R: Teint Majeur is a wonderful product. it's the best foundation I've ever used. However, I would never recommend the right shade for you, or anyone! I strongly suggest that you go into one of the better department stores that carries YSL makeup, and have one of the YSL representatives advise you on the correct color. I personally use #5 , Peach. It is the shade the YSL rep applied when i first tried t years ago, and I've used it for years. I shop in Nordstrom. I'm sure you could receive the same expert advice at Saks, Neiman Marcus, etc. Call the store you shop in and ask if they carry the product. It's well worth the inquiry, time snd effort. I've gotten many compliments, and have recommended it so often, I should be on commission! I don't know if it comes in powder, but you can ask the YSL rep when you go to the store. I use liquid foundation, so I have never asked about the availability of a powder. YSL makes good products, I'm sure one of the representatives would be happy to help you with any of their makeup products. Nov 29, 2012

Anca P: Yes, it has a small brush included in the package.
Very creamy, great coverage, lasting 24 hours without problems.
Since the coverage is so good, it is even and does not show colored undertones.
Best way to pick the shade would be in person, by trying them on yourself

Christine S: This is a product that really is better than the rest. The trick is to only use a little bit. I use a quality sponge to put it on and that allows me to quickly spread it. I can get the same effect with a brush but I am better with a sponge even though everyone says it 'wastes' product I have ordinary skin, aging, nothing special (unfortunately) but when I use this I have gotten compliments on my skin and questions about 'do I use foundation' 'what brand'. I have tried other products at price points $50 and up and this really stands out and, I think, is worth the price. I wish YSL, Nordstrom, Chanel, Bobbi Brown and Sephora would hire more middle and older age saleswomen with ordinary skin so we can get honest, well-informed assistance. Apr 18, 2012

sharon f: I find the coverage to be lightweight, yet medium in terms of the actual foundation. I have normal to dry skin and I am in my early 50's. It is not a heavy or "cakey" type foundation even though it is cream.

When I apply a translucent powder the coverage is fuller, but again very even and lovely. I prefer a creme foundation for winter and then go to the liquid in Spring and Summer.

I have used YSL foundations for years now and would not use anything else!

Robert K: I have used this foundation for over a year and just love it. You can, of course, put it on heavier for more coverage but just a light application of this foundation evens out my skin wonderfully. It stays on well even over moisturizer. I have dry skin and this feels just divine going on and does not dry out during the day. I have to admit that most of my makeup comes from the drugstore but when I tried this foundation at a department store, I just had to have it. Apr 19, 2012

I pretty much agree with Jules's review. My skin is normal skin with a lot of dark spots. This full coverage foundation makes my skin look so silky, clean, and flawless. Very good product! Highly recommend it. Well, the only thing I want to say is it is a bit expensive to me. I usually buy foundation around $50.

Oh, how I wanted to love this foundation. It felt wonderful on my skin, and the finish was perfect. Except....It settled it my pores something awful. Even after using YSL Pore Minimizer Brush, you could see every pore clogged with makeup. Have never had a foundation do this to me before, so will be sticking with the Teint Resist, even though it does not quite give me the same smooth finish as this. Definetely pass on this one if you have large pores.
