You wear your face and look at it in the mirror every single day. While most days it may remain the same, other days it may change depending on many things including the weather, your fatigue and or stress level or a simple hormonal change.
When you are standing the make-up counter to purchase a product(s) your skin may or may not appear as it usually does.
Therefore, the consultant may recommend a different product based on what she sees standing in front of her at that very moment.
In addition, the products speak for themselves. Ultimately, it is up to you to try the product(s) that work best for you. Unfortunately, met times this wakes time unless you are lucky. Often you will try many products before you finally hit the jackpot. But once you do; you won't be sorry you kept looking!
And in most instances it is that very product that you will continue to use for years. Even when newer products come out, you will discover your jackpot still is just that; a jackpot.
Never hesitate to ask for samples of different shades and foundation types. Consultants should be more than willing to provide these to you in attempt to help you find what is right for you Once you do that, you will be back to purchase a product or know what you definitely do not want to buy.
I have bought make-up all over the world and tried almost every brand there is from the cheapest to the most expensive.
I also have had many bottles given away to friends that did not work for me.
In the long run, it puts a big dent in your purse.
I have encountered consultants/sales people whom are willing to offer products to me in a helpful manner without being pushy while others simply are lazy and do not want to take the time to put a few squirts in a small container for me to try a foundation, primer, moisturizer, or etc;.
There are a plethora of beauty products on the market today and even the most schooled make-up user can find it hard to get exactly what they are looking for; aren't we all looking for a product that does it all? Why do we have to narrow it down to a product only for:
fine lines and wrinkles
dry and dehydrated skin
discolored or blotchy skin
sagging or mature skin
age defying skin
normal skin " By the way, what is "normal" skin?
The list goes on and on and their are now primers, serums, eye creams gels, and many other products to add confusion. Night cremes, day cremes, etc;
It can be overwhelming.
BOTTOM LINE: Find someone you like whom is willing to take the time with you at the counter. Seldom do I ever have good results sitting in a chair getting a makeover by any random person.. The lighting is different and they use so many products it is often a waste of time. After all, you need to be able to apply the product yourself.
What works for one does not work for another. Kind of like the way your friends jeans might not fit you like they fir her.
If it works for you, then it works! Regardless of what age it is designed and marketed for!
There are many women I personally know in their 40's, 50's and 60's all of whom have skin that looks much better than people whom are only 20 or 30.
Find a consultant somewhere you frequently shop and get to know them Once you are a repeat customer you will find they are capable of providing you with honest answers, ample samples, and know you by name. Many will even mail you products over the phone.
Consultants work different shifts, ask what days they work. Buy from one person if you can and then if you already know what you want then you can buy it online or at the store from anyone.
It takes time but is well worth it. Before you buy ask if you can return the product in a day or two if it does not work for you; most stores will allow this.
Good Luck! Hope this helps anyone I am on my way home is reading! Feb 8, 2015
Figures that suit my skin No. 1 Ivory foundation and the other Father There are only a No. 4 in our country .
thank you all for your answers Jul 15, 2012
Product is very creamy and spreads evenly giving a uniform skin tone. Would not use it on a face full of wrinkles but rather on a face that wants a uniform smooth skin tone Jul 15, 2012

It is not identical but fairly close. However, I personally prefer the texture and look on my skin of Teint Majeur. Feb 26, 2014
I am sorry but I do not know. Best to ask the beauty consultant where you buy your YSL. Feb 26, 2014
I too feel bereft. It's the only color on the market from all the companies that really "did" it for me and I've been wearing nothing else for the past 10 years.
YSL has a few other foundations in opal but none of them offer this level of coverage plus light reflecting plus pore tightening. This product is phenomenal and it seems ridiculous that they've left us all hanging without anything comparable.
I keep hoping that by the time my last jar runs out YSL will come out with something as wonderful.
I wish I had a suggestion for you. Maybe you can go to the YSL makeup counter and they can give you a sample of the other foundations that come in "our" opal color and you can try them w/o investing much.
I wish you lots of luck.

Is would love for YSL to being on a foundation that works as well as Teint Majur. I use several other YSL cosmetic and skincare products and love them! May 28, 2015
Perhaps companies should put out feelers to the public prior to discontinuing popular products!!
I can't understand why I would get this request from YSL when they certainly must know that Teinte Majeur is no longer available! Most puzzling!! Jun 1, 2015
Since my skin is very dry, I don't use powder after this foundation. But my makeup keeps perfectly without reapplying until I wash my face in the nights.
I have the powder, POUDRE SUR MESURE (http://www.yslbeautyus.com/poudre-sur-mesure/152YSL.html?dwvar_152YSL_color=1%20Ivory&cgid=makeup-powder#start=3&cgid=makeup-powder). I use this when I need. Aug 25, 2014
I have been advised that YSL has discontinued #4 colour Sand.
Perhaps your colour too has been discontinued.

This foundation has exceptional coverage and thus can obscure alot of skin problems. Inso far as large pores, I think it would still give nice coverage. You could always put a pore minimizer underneath. Try Perricone MD Intensive Pore Minimizer, or Napoleon Perdis, Clinique or Estee Lauder pore minimizers. Jun 8, 2012
foundation is glorious - your skin looks radiant and flawless, at least that has been my experienced. I love it ! - hope this helps Jun 19, 2012
ysl has the best foundation in the world.

Very creamy, great coverage, lasting 24 hours without problems.
Since the coverage is so good, it is even and does not show colored undertones.
Best way to pick the shade would be in person, by trying them on yourself Nov 29, 2012

When I apply a translucent powder the coverage is fuller, but again very even and lovely. I prefer a creme foundation for winter and then go to the liquid in Spring and Summer.
I have used YSL foundations for years now and would not use anything else! Apr 18, 2012
