The overtly sensual side of the Yves Saint Laurent perfume masterpiece is less assertive in the Eau de Toilette, but only a little. The opulent, decadent character is immediately apparent from the immediate swoon of mandarin and bergamot notes, deepened by myrrh, jasmine and carnation. Amber unlocks the final note… and the heart of the woman who wears it. In a chic Chinoiserie-inspired flacon.
I have been buying and using Opium since 1977. I just bought 2 bottles and for the first time ever, I am disappointed. The bottle is different and the sprayer is awful. It smells very different. I thought it was me so I sprayed some from a new bottle on a tissue and some from my old bottle on a tissue and it is a very different smell. I had other people to smell and they to thought it was different.
PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't have a lot of money, and I saved for months to buy a new bottle of Opium. I've used it for over 20 years and loved it. Now, I regret having wasted my money on the new stuff. The scent is simply NOT the same as before. I used to have people ask what I was wearing. Now, they just want to know what that strong "floral" smell is. Please change it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was a little surprised with the new bottle, but completely shocked that the fragrance has also changed. Not by much, but it is definately different. I have been an opium girl since 1979 and something is very different here. All but one fragrance sales people have assured me that the fragrance has not changed. Anyone else find this?
I tend to wear Opium in the cooler months. I had two large bottles so it has been some time since I have had the need to purchase my beloved scent.
Brought my purchase home, gave a spritz and . . . . As others have noted what came out is a far cry from Opium. Compared to the original this is awful. Fortunately it no longer has the staying power so the aroma did not linger long.
This is so disappointing. A fine house would never do this to loyal patrons. Adieu my beloved.
I ADORE the fragrance, but I am soooooooo disappointed in the current diffuser on 1.6oz bottle. The retailer was kind enough to replace what I thought was possibly just a defective spray attachment, but the second bottle shoots a river of fragrance the same way. The stream hits, then runs off your arm, or down your cleavage, or it turns just enough to spray right past my head, wasting my fabulously extravagant fragrance.
Is this your plan to get me to buy more product?
YSL PLEASE CHANGE DIFFUSER!!!
I do love opium and have been wearing it for years!
However I bought a new bottle recently and really don't like the cheap top. It comes off in your hand and the its sprays like a garden hose. I wish you would change the spray top.
But,oh I love the smell !
I have been wearing Opium since 1986 and I am so dissapointed in the new scent. I wish you would bring back the original scent, as it was so sultry. I always received compliments when I wore it. Now it has a powdery rubber smell. There is an old saying ---- don't fix what isn't broken. I miss my Opium so very much, hopefully one day in the near future you will bring it back!
I have used this product for many years as I love love love the fragrance (and so do others I come in contact with!!) The unfortunate problem is that they changed a good thing....the bottle!! In April 2011 I purchased a new bottle in the duty free shop in BC and have had nothing but problems with it ever since. The sprayer is absolutely terrible. It sprays a stream instead of a spray right past your point of direction...the lid continuously falls off and having to have that plastic topper on it at all times so that it doesn't spray when it shouldn't is a real nuisance...I wish I could return it and find an old bottle somewhere or figure out how to open it and pour the contents into another spray bottle....too bad...this product is expensive but I don't mind paying for it....until now!!
