The opulent decadence of the Eau de Parfum captures the overtly sensual spirit of the original parfum designed by Yves Saint Laurent, only in a lighter spray form. Striking notes of mandarin and bergamot are made mystical with middle notes myrrh and jasmine. A final accord of deep amber laced with Opoponaux imbues the scent with its celebrated rapture. In a chic Chinoiserie-inspired flacon.
I've been wearing Opium for 30 years and I hate what you have done to the original receipe of this fragrance. It doesn't even smell like the original at all. You need to fix the change as you are losing customers. On ebay people are paying a fortune old half used bottles of the old original opium becaused they LOVE the smell of the old original fragrance.
Not the original! When I bought it for the first time I thought I got a counterfeit and took it back. The girl at the store had no clue about the change and didn't know the difference, Underlying scent is similar but whatever was added or changed is horrible. Been wearing Opium since high school and I'm so disappointed with the new formula. The new formula is too "old" of a scent for a young woman so I can't see how they think they will attract a new clientele. The original is better suited for young women. I've seen post after post on how loyal clients such as myself are disgusted by the change. Please bring it back! I'd love to know why YSL did this!
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE BEYOND FRUSTRATED ABOUT THE RE-FORMULATED OPIUM, LET ME SAY I SHARE YOUR SADNESS. I CONDUCTED A 6-MONTH RESEARCH, INCLUDING WRITING TO YSL. WELL, HERE IT IS: THE FRAGRANCE NOTE THAT IS MISSING IS CARNATION. APPARENTLY THERE IS SOME TYPE OF REGULATION ON USING CARNATION OIL AND ITS' IMPORTATION. UNLESS THIS NOTE IS DE-REGULATED, WE WILL NEVER EXPERIENCE THE EXOTIC AND SENSUAL FRAGRANCE MOST OF HAVE USED FOR 20 TO 30 YEARS. I USED TO SAY, "A DAY WITHOUT OPIUM IS LIKE A DAY WITHOUT SUNSHINE." I HAVE SEARCHED FOR A FRAGRANCE THAT COMES CLOSE TO OPIUM WITH NO LUCK. I HAVE, THEREFORE, SWITCHED OVER TO CHANEL COCO NOIR. IF YOU WANT CARNATION TOP NOTES, GO WITH L'AIR DU TEMPS, BUT NOTHING CAN REPLACE OPIUM. I WOULD PAY DOUBLE IF YSL WOULD BRING IT BACK.. SORRY OPIUM LOVERS--ITHIS STORY DOESN'T HAVE A HAPPY ENDING.
I have been wearing Opium since 1980. Always was known for my Scent. Now I can't even wear it. It smells nothing like it did. I have 2 bottles of the new revised scent and will be giving it away. Just finished the last of my Old bottle. Now I have to find a new Perfume. It's a SHAME Companies don't listen to their Customers. The new scent is nothing like the Original, nor does it last. Before I would have people stop me to ask what I was wearing. Now nothing. You should have just raised the price, instead of taking out the expensive ingredients. Very Disappointed.
Not what I expected. Have been a long-time fan of what I thought was a classic. I ordered a new bottle and thought I'd been scammed. NOTHING like the original formula that I loved. Yves St Laurent -- Why would you change such a sensual recognizable scent into bug bomb?
I have worn this scent for over 30 years. I now only use the crème as the spray does not smell the same. I even thought maybe I was being shipped OLD merchandise. Please change it back. It is my signature scent. Other people have noticed the difference too!!
This has been my favorite for thirty years. There is nothing like it... it is unforgettable! I get an abundance of compliments, I especially like the ones from handsom men!
My tip: I put the empty bottles in my bedroom drawers... clothes smell great. Actually, I have so many my room smells great!
magnificently intoxicating. Opium creates a famously "celebrated rapture" that transforms sensual experiences into the other worldy;
ushering passage into higher dimensions for both of you to experience together.
