Miss the original Opium Parfum

Oct 19, 2016

I have been a buyer since the 70s, will the original ever come back? Must look for new fragrance.

A regular gift for my wife for over 20 years. Never again. Neither of us care for what is now called "Opium" from YSL. A loss.

So Sad Opium Has Changed

Sep 23, 2016

Changing the Opium fragrance is like changing Chanel No. 5 and expecting loyal customers to still purchase it. The thing I can't understand is, how do you expect your loyal customers to still pay the high price of this new Opium when it's not Opium? Makes no sense. You've lost me as a customer. And, I am very sad about that. I was in Paris the weekend you launched Opium. Until 2 years ago, I wore it every single day with hundreds of compliments. Good-bye my sweet friend. ♡

Best parfum ever!

Everyone always comments positively when I wear this parfum. Lasting fragrance.

After being unable to find Opium in the parfum version at any of my local department stores, I was thrilled to find it online here. I immediately ordered two bottles! When it arrived, I applied some fragrance right away. I am just heartbroken! The scent is NOT the same as the Opium parfum I have loved wearing for years. Indeed, I compared the ingredients of my "old" packaging to the new, and they are different. Why oh why change perfection? The original Opium was incomparable. Please go back to that formula!

Please don't call it Opium

Sep 17, 2015

I have worn Opium since shortly after its introduction in 1977. I recently purchased some of the "new" formula and I wish I had not. It does not smell anything like the original, and the new formula does not blend with my body chemistry in a complementary way. At this price point, YSL might have had the courtesy to label it as reformulated, so as to warn longtime fans of the product to perhaps sample it before spending so much for a product that is so different than its namesake.

Quite frankly, the scent is so different that in all fairness it should have been given a new name. Please don't call it "Opium" anymore. That perfume is now a thing of the past.

Love "Vintage" Opium? DO NOT buy this!

I know many of us love, love LOVE the scent of Opium we adored in the 1980s and 1990s, but this frangrance has been DESTROYED, imo, by the reformulation abomination in 2010. Ladies and gentlemen, don't be fooled by the packaging! Anything you buy that's currently offered by Yves Saint Laurent (L'Oreal) is NOT the "original Opium" we loved from the past.
YSL, PLEASE bring back the old stuff!!

Nothing beats the original Opium

about a year ago I purchased my favorite scent of all time only to find out it had been changed from the fragrance I loved so much in the 80s and 90s. Sadly this change was not for the better. Based on what I've read here and on the internet it seems many others feel the same. PLEASE YSL, bring back the original!

I was using opium 25 years ago. Love it, Love it, Love it! Still do. Had all sorts of compliment from Strangers asking, and really liking the smell. Most of the Strangers were women, who I think sometimes can be the harshest critics. Standing in a grocery line, Shopping, etc. People and I love this smell :)

My Most Loved

I have used this product since it's introduction in the 70's when I went out on the town alot. I was very social, dating and dancing.
