Touch� �clat is not really a very good cover up. It's more of a highlighter. What it does is it reflects light away from your skin to make it look flawless. It's a little too sheer to be used as a cover up.

When using a new touche eclat for the first time sometimes it can take as few as 4 clicks for product to start coming out and as many as 12 clicks. If after trying again another happens the product is probably defective and you should contact the company. Good luck.

You have to press it several times initially for the product to show up on the brush just to get it started. After you have gotten it to come out the first time, you only have to press it 2-3 times to see it on the brush. Great product!

For Olive skin tone you will probably be best with #3. I am a Make Up Artist and sometimes mix #1 and #3 on someone with Olive skin, it depends on how dark they are. Those 2 shades are my fav's and have used for about 20 yrs working on just about everyone.

I ended up getting #8 because it does cover up my dark spots and blemishes pretty well, and I also find #1 a tad too orange and pink and does look weird with covering.... so if you are pale, I think you should go with #1. I think your decision should be based on the undertones of your skin. If you are more pink, go with #1, if you are more yellow, go with #8. If you are more neutral, you might like #2, however, it does have a little more depth than #1 or #8. I hope this helps. Melody

I would go with the lighter shade. I think the "Shade Finder" on the website leads to the purchase of a shade that is too dark. I have light olive skin; maybe the "Shade Finder" works for people with your skin tone, but not for people with mine. Maybe some people with your skin tone will responds as well. The good news is I can use the one is too dark for eye shadow, so it is not a complete waste of money. The texture is great. and it has great staying power.

Personally, I use it as a concealer itself. You may have to put on two (thin) coats, as what I do, Let the first coat dry, then put on second coat. I'm 74 though, but it works for me. I fear you would have product builtup if you used it over another consealer.

I am a busy teacher. This product lasts and wears all day. The coverage is the best, it really is. When you say waterproof, I don't believe it would last through the swimming pool or a shower. But it will last all day, even if you are on the go and active.

If your skin tone has a pink tint to it you are should be using warm tones, if your skin tone more beige you are cool tones. The best way to see your real color on the inside of your hand, that skin usually does not have that much exposure to the sun and it's the best way to see your true tone of skin to determine what tone are you.

I absolutely love this product. It does wash off with cleanser when you remove your make up. I have been outdoors with it on all day and it stays on. I ride and show thoroughbreds on weekends. It can get really hot showing horses in the summer time. It does not run off or smudge. I also work out approximately 5 times a week. It stays on with no problems. Try looking at the shade chart provided if you cant make it into the store. I have used # 1 and # 3 in my kit for years and it works on so many people. #1 for lighter skin and #3 for darker skin and anything in between I use both and blend. Hope that helps

It sounds like touche eclat would work for you to mask that red area. Brush it on lightly over your foundation then finish with a powder. You might try color number 2. It works very well in the under eye area to improve circles.

Months ago, I was given a sample and after washing and putting olive oil all over my face one night I applied the TE to my entire face and forgot about it. The next morning when I looked in the mirror, I was surprised to see a woman there who looked 10-15 years younger! She has more of a reddish complexion and mine is more olive but it seemed to work for us both. This past year I bought a slight darker for me Radiant Silk and I was pleased with it also. Have had it for years and have used this product for years and it does cover it up--also goes on smoothly and the brush gives considerable control as to where it goes. Rather dark is not EXTREMELY dark, but I imagine it would work. I have fair skin as well, so I also like the choice of shades this product comes in. It's worth a try!

I order the No. 2 luminous ivory. I would purchase a shade slightly liter than my skin tone, to highlite. I use it as a highlighter and sort of a concealer. It diminishes dark circles under the eye, for a quick refresher look. I use on the 11 between the eyes, if you have those, I use on the outer part of my eye and blend upward to lift the eye and gives the illusion of looking more youthful, Use on the inner part of eye next to the nose to brighten and highlight that dark area, on the center of the nose, around the corners of the nostril ,,blend, blend,blend. Use around the lip line to give a fuller lip. All of these areas, are places you can use product. I use after foundation and all other products are on, then you can see where you need those extra lighteners. Tip: tap, tap, tap, do not rub, just blend lightly, do not apply too much at any area. Works Wonders, Hope this helps.

I use a number 2 because the touch� �clat is suppose to be for high lighting purposes, so I chose something quite a bit lighter than my skin tone, but not overly pale because that'd just look unnatural. That being said you will have to figure out what number you are...I know that #2 is a universal color. If it doesn't work for you then just take it back to the store and exchange it for the correct color. Remember all makeup and skincare is returnable.

I also have similar skin tone and use the lightest shade to highlight. I always put primer on my face after using Touche Eclat. I find that it blends in well with the light shade. During the summer on the beach, I will use one shade darker.

Now, all skin colors have an undertone no matter how light or dark you are, so go and find out! 2. Once you know your undertone, you should know how light or dark you are in the general worldly scale. 3. Once those basics are in place the next question would be, "what do I want to achieve with this product?" Do I want to "bring out" areas such as wrinkles? Then go lighter than your tone; or Do I want to "blend in" with my skin tone? Then select your skin tone color; and lastly, Do I want to "contour" that is to diminish areas, then go darker. All very simple once you know your basics. Try it and try again until perfection!

I have always preferred color 2. I have olive complexionwhich is probably darker than yours but I have a lot of red in my skin as well. The light color, when blended, works beautifuly and lightens the under eye area which is what it is designed to do. You will love this produt. It never cakes in the tiny lines under my eyes.

I have an olive complexion an prefer the lighter shade #2. At first you will think it looks much too light but as you blend it, you will find that, indeed, it must be light to do its job. By the time you have put on all of your "face" I think you will be pleased with it. Touche Eclat never migrates into fine lines. I have introduced it to many girlfriends. We wouldn't be without. Absolutely! I guess I would be medium dark skinned and I love the light peach. It blends beautifully. Use down center of nose, above eyebrows and along lip line. Then experiment.

I would definitely use the lighter shade. I am tan from sun and never feel that the light shade is too light. I did not care for the pearlized ... opal one. I use it undereye. The opal doesn't look good there b/c it accentuates those real fine lines under eyes. You will love the regular product for under eye. I have used it for years and now my girlfriends use it as well. It never gets caked into fine lines!

Hi Julie- if you know the original works than I would stick with that. Depending on your skin tone you can use a different shade or even mix them. Generally the originally color I find works great for anyone who is pink and olive tone from fair to medium color. If you found the original color was too light than I would go up a shade. I think the best thing to go is go to the counter and try a few different ones. Hope this helps!

The purpose of �clat for me was to brighten the area under my eyes so you want to go lighter than your normal foundation. It worked great for me.
I even put a touch of it over my foundation around the sides of my nose and mouth where shadows gather.

When in doubt about your skin tone go to a YSL make-up counter and you will be helped by someone who is knowledgeable and can try the different shades on you in the store-when I do that I always go outside where it is light to really see the color-the store lights can be deceiving (I learned the hard way) always bring a mirror -and I am sure the person helping you will totally understand.

I had a similar question when I bought this product. On the website, they have a help section. When I clicked on it, it showed real photos of models. When I clicked on a model, it told me what color they were using. This really helped me to narrow down the shades and pick the best one. By the way -- you will love this concealer. It's one of the few I have found that really works.
