I don't know where you live, but if you live in North America, I am very sorry to say that Rive Gauche is only available now online (if you live in the U.S.) or by calling the YSLBeautyUS 866 telephone number. As I don't live in the U.S., I cannot order online and it is quite a logistical hassle as the only way I can buy it is to send it to a U.S. shipping address. Having said that, I have been wearing Rive Gauche for over 30 years, so I remain quite motivated to always have it!

I never purchased the perfume oil, but this spray is the scent is authentic. Many people have complained that the formulation is different, but it does not seem different to me. For many years, I could only find rive gauche in europe, not US, and then not at all. Last year, when YSL put it back into the lineup, I bought the eau de toilette spray. It's great.

YSL asked me to answer you question. I doubt they still make the soap.If you have been wearing Rive Gauche for very long (me 37 years) you shoud have noticed that it does not smell the same. The orginial had a very long lasting after smell which I loved. It also smelled very strong when you first put it on.It had to clam down for about 30 mins. The info that i have been able to get is in 2000 they changed the formula to the one now. I have not been able to get skin lotion or powder. In the 70's I could get all kinds of Rive Gauche products, by the 90's hardly any. I wish I could still buy the original, I guess the new is better than no Rive Gauche at all.

I have been using this fragrance since the mid-70s. However, sadly it does not smell the same. The fragrance was reengineered after Yves St. Laurent died and a new company head was brought in - don't remember which one of the top of my head. Even with the change, it is still a great perfume with excellent lasting power. People always comment on it.

David purchased this spray for me, his wife. He first introduced me to this fragrance possibly over 30-yrs ago. As the writer has asked, I too would like to ask the very same question. When I thought about it, it has been a very long time now since anyone commented on my lovely perfume, and what was it. I also checked with my two daughters, who realized they did not notice their Mom's nice scent any more. And I was almost known by it at one time. This has to say something about the present formulation I would think. As well as the purchase made in Nov. the one I am currently using was bought in Harrods in London at Christmastime ... and my most recent purchase was made at Madrid airport. We chose to buy when we see this product as it is not so easy to find any more ... sadly! I always have loved it ... and owned it.

I believe this shopper is correct. The Eau de Toilette spray I purchased directly from you on November 2011 does not appear to have any lingering odor. Nor does the spray purchased in Harrods in December of last year. Previous purchases (over the last 4 years) - mainly from Heathrow airport, also appear to rapidly lose their scent.

I agree, it does seem quite distinct at first (I love its fragrance), and then it seems to lose its aroma, Perhaps I've become accustomed to it by that time, I'm not sure.....BUT, i ENJOY IT WHENEVER I PICK UP THAT CANNISTER AND SPRAY AWAY, UMM, MY FAVORITE.
