I disagree with Mark as I think a man can easily wear this as long as it is done with moderation. There are certainly other mens' colognes that are rich and 'spicy' like Opium. The Parfum or EDP is likely too strong for a man, but I certainly don't have a problem with the occasional spray of EDT. I get a lot of compliments - and some are from guys who want to try it themselves.

Sadly to say yes. Opium has been my signature perfume for more years than I care to admit. Last November, I purchased the eau de parfum version direct from YSL. I've always purchased edp or secret de parfum, until that was discontinued. The new bottle has a soapy scent to my nose, and it's not a good addition. Luckily the older version can still be found if you know where to look.

Since I've worn it for so long, people recognize me by the smell and no one has commented on it, especially not my daughter and she would notice.

The product on the square brown bottle inside a mostly gold box is Opium "Eau de Parfum". It does smell different Eau de Toilette or cologne, because its more concentrated. I have used Opium Eau de Parfum since it came out in the mid-1990s (I used Eau de toilette before) The bottle has gone thru several changes, but I have not found that the fragrance changed. Maybe you got the Eau de Parfum instead of the toilette water or cologne and that's what you were used to.

I experienced the same thing until I realized I could purchase Opium directly from Yves St. Laurent. I know longer experience the variation in the parfum strength and rich fragrance. I would recommend you stick with this website and leave the stores alone. Good luck to you.

I agree that some perfumes smell quiet different from one person to another. I have known several different women who wore Opium and while there is a subtle difference in the scent from one woman to another, I would say that it is less pronounced with Opium that with many other fragrances

The Opium Toilette Spray and Parfum Spray are in 1.6 and 3.0 ozs. Also the gift set carries the 3.0 Parfum Spray and 6.6 Body Cream. I wish now that I had gotten the Body Cream from YSL because I am still waiting for a shipment of it from Nordstrom. I paid $15.00 for a two day delivery for the body cream and have yet to receive it. The fragrance is the most wonderful fragrance there is. I always buy YSL products. It's well worth the money. Buy directly from YSL.....you'll get your product in satisfactory time and condition.

I bought my Opium Parfum from the website, but you can try any major department stores in a mall. Just ask the person behind the counter if they carry this product, and if not, would they know where you could get it. Most are very helpful with stuff like that.
